Vacancy Rates in Metro Vancouver Region. August 2026
According to Statistic for August 2026 Metro Vancouver's vacancy rate remains elevated by historical local standards, creating more choice for renters and more competition for landlords.
CMHC reports Metro Vancouver's rental vacancy at about 3.7% (a multi‑decade high), with some analyses noting this as a 31‑year high
Purpose‑built rental apartments in the region show a tighter vacancy around 1.5%, while condo rentals drive much of the overall looseness.
Some sub‑markets are even looser: for example, New Westminster survey zones have shown vacancy near 5.8%, and East Hastings around 3.8%.
